Sailboats

What you should know when insuring your sailboat

  • Have your sailboat’s year, make, and model ready to receive the most accurate quote; you’ll need the hull identification number to start a policy

  • We’ll sometimes ask about your sailboat’s hull length, material (usually fiberglass or aluminum), and propulsion type (inboard, outboard or inboard/outboard)

  • Completing a boater safety course could bring down your sailboat insurance cost

  • You’ll have the option to insure your sailboat’s trailer

What does sailboat insurance cover?

The best sailboat insurance policies will not only cover the basics, like liability, comprehensive, and collision, but will also provide additional unique coverage features and options.

Power boat

What you should know when insuring your powerboat

The hull identification number is necessary to start a boat insurance policy; if you don’t have the hull ID number handy, you can still get a quote if you know your powerboat’s year, make, and model

If your boat manufacturer isn’t listed when you start your quote, we’ll ask about your powerboat’s hull length, hull material (usually fiberglass or aluminum), and propulsion type (inboard, outboard)

Here are some of the common powerboats we insure:

  • Cuddy cabins

  • Deck boats

  • House boats

  • Jet boats

  • Ski/wake boats

  • Bass and fishing boats

  • Bay boats

  • Bowriders

  • Center consoles

  • Cruisers

Tips for quoting PWC insurance:

  • Most states have age limitations for operating a PWC, but if your state does not have an age requirement, make sure any minors who will be regularly operating your PWC are included on your policy as listed operators

  • Disclose any enhancements made to your PWC to increase speed or performance; your insurer may not cover a PWC with certain modifications

  • The hull identification number is necessary to purchase a PWC policy; if you don’t have the hull ID number handy, you can still get a quote if you know your PWC’s year, make, and model

  • Completing a boater safety course can lower your insurance rate
